Transitions
This summer marked two significant changes for the School of Management.
First, members of the UB School of Management community bade a fond farewell to Dean Paul
Tesluk, who was named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bentley University in
Waltham, Massachusetts.
"Paul's strategic insights are evident in virtually everything the
School of Management has accomplished over the past seven years,"
said Gregg Fisher, BS '92, founder and portfolio manager at Quent
Capital, and past chair of the Dean's Advisory Council. "His commit-
ment to moving the school forward will continue to pay dividends
well beyond his tenure as dean."
Tesluk expressed his appreciation for the collaborative spirit
that he encountered throughout his time as dean. "I am so grateful to
our faculty, staff and alumni, as well as our many external partners
in the UB, business and global communities," he said. "Together, we
have achieved a tremendous amount and established a foundation
that leaves the school well positioned to continue its ascent."

Following Tesluk's departure in August, the School of Management welcomed a new dean,
Ananth V. Iyer, PhD, an expert in operations and supply chain management and former senior
associate dean at Purdue University's Krannert School of Management.
"An exceptional scholar and a highly respected academic leader, Dr. Iyer is uniquely suited to
build upon the school's strong research portfolio, prepare our students to address society's grand
challenges and elevate the School of Management to new levels of excellence," said UB President
Satish K. Tripathi.
The appointment was made by A. Scott Weber, UB provost and executive vice president for
academic affairs, who said Iyer emerged from a highly competitive pool of candidates following an
extensive national search.
"Dr. Iyer stood out because of his innovative and ambitious vision for the school, as well as his
substantial administrative experience, impressive research and consulting record, and collabora-
tive approach to leadership," said Weber.
"I am humbled and excited at the opportunity to serve as dean of the University at Buffalo
School of Management," Iyer said. "The past accomplishments of students, alumni, faculty and
staff are a wonderful base to further build an excellent business and academic ecosystem, and I
look forward to the opportunity to develop and implement plans with stakeholders for a successful
future."
