Dear Alumni and Friends,
As we enter the last few months of the School of Management's
centennial celebration, it is a time of considerable reflection. We
spent a significant part of the past year acknowledging the many
milestones that brought us to this point, while simultaneously
planning the next big steps for our future. In this issue of Buffalo
Business, you will see examples of both.
In Startups, you'll see how we are demonstrating the connection that
virtually everything we do ties into our four strategic initiatives.
(Read the article on page 2 and follow the symbols throughout the
magazine.)
You can also read about some of the many ways we celebrated our
100-year anniversary, including the nine alumni honored with
Centennial Achievement and Impact awards for the mark they have
made on the world through their leadership (see cover story, begin-
ning on page 8).
From producing groundbreaking research (pages 20-22) to welcom-
ing a new crop of professors who joined our ranks in the fall (page
24) to tapping into our vast alumni network to enrich our student
experience (page 16) to our continued ascent in various rank-
ings (page 4 and back cover), the School of Management has hit the
ground running as we enter our second century.
For 100 years, UB School of Management graduates have shaped the
future of business as leaders, innovators and catalysts of change. As
we stand at the crossroads of the past and the future, we look forward
to continuing our partnership with all of you as we prepare to take
the next giant leap.
Best regards,
Ananth Iyer
