4 SUPPLY CHAIN OPPORTUNITY GUIDE GROWING NE W YORK STATE'S SEMICONDUC TOR SUPPLY CHAIN: THE OPPORTUNIT Y Semiconductor fabrication (fab) facility capacity and the semiconductor supply chain continue to grow throughout the United States as industry, academia and governments invest in capital, research and development and infrastructure. As of January 2026, over $645 billion dollars in private investments in the U.S. semiconductor supply chain have been announced, supporting more than 525,000 jobs across the nation. 1 Worldwide semiconductor sales have grown rapidly in recent years, demonstrating 61.8% year-to-year growth, as of February 2026. In dollars, sales have increased from $630.5 billion in 2024 to an estimated $1 trillion by the end of 2026, achieving this milestone four years earlier than previously anticipated. 2, 3, 4 Since 2020, more than $131 billion in New York State semiconductor investments have been announced for new facility development and expansion by AMD, Corning, Edwards Vacuum, GlobalFoundries, Menlo Microsystems, Micron Technology, NY Creates, Onsemi, TTM Technologies and Wolfspeed. 1 In parallel, New York State Gov. Kathy Hochul launched the $10 billion Green CHIPS program, and established the Governor's Office of Semiconductor Expansion, Management, and Integration (GO-SEMI) within Empire State Development, equipping the state with resources needed to expand and scale a globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem. 5 1 Semiconductor Industry Association.
