Todd Carter came to UB because he wanted an MBA program with strong corporate connections.
Smart move. After graduation, he went to work in finance for Allstate Insurance in Northbrook, Ill.,
where he was the first new hire ever invited into the company's finance rotation training program.
Todd's introduction to Allstate came through Steven Verney (BS '80, MBA '81), Allstate's executive
vice president and chief risk officer, by way of a request for an informational interview. Another
smart move. Currently completing a rotation on Allstate's property team, Todd works with line
managers to develop strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing results. He also works with the team's
innovative solutions consultant, determining the financial feasibility of various initiatives and ideas.
